A Horrible Website

If you want to be horrified, go to kennelspotlight.com.  It’s written from the perspective of a puppy mill owner/breeder and is as you would expect.  Perusing the articles on the front page make clear that kennel and mill owners view their animals as just that, animals, meant to live in the wild, prey on weaker animals and even unsuspecting humans, and breed more of the same.  I want to make one thing clear and that is that I am not against RESPONSIBLE hobby breeders.  I don’t consider myself a hard core animal activist.  But, I am sure kennelspotlight would refer to me as what they call animal rights activist/assailant.  One article is even completely dismissive of the concept “man’s best friend,” stressing that it is a figure of speech and mindset that makes no sense and is completely fabricated.  Anyone who has known the pleasure of having a pet KNOWS that the unconditional love a pet provides is a wonderful, un-duplicable feeling.

An anecdote: my mother watched our dogs for two days while we moved earlier this month.  She is a dog liker who never wanted one when her kids were young.  And she fell completely in love with the two dogs during their short stay at her house.  In her words, “they transformed my home.  Now that they’re gone, it’s like the house is empty.”  I wish the author of that horrendous article and the purveyors of that horrible website could speak with her for just a few minutes.  Maybe they’ll even be open minded enough to listen and learn.  But probably not.  That’s what we’re up against.

Totally understand! I read last month’s magazine and think I was even more horrified. I will post it if I can get a copy of it online.

Oh. My. God. I can tolerate a lot of crazy shit from these people, and the first article I read didn’t even have a point but was just a lot of screaming and foaming from the breeder wingnuts.

But the fact that they will sit there and call “pet overpopulation” a lie is beyond comprehension. Maybe we can agree to disagree about the conditions pets should be kept in, or how much animals feel, or whether or not ALL animals should be speutered. But when thousands (millions?) of pets are being euthanized every year because of lack of homes…that’s pretty much the definition of overpopulation. Like that’s a big myth-conspiracy cooked up by the HSUS to put breeders out of business. “If we just kill all these animals, breeders will go away!” Uhhhhh. HUH?

And I totally had to LOL at the plea for the people who work for “corn, rice and grain” companies to join in the brigade because if puppy mills get shut down, who is going to feed all their substandard food? Not the disgusting animal nutburgers who are so twisted they feed their dogs…MEAT.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, but I guess it’s worth laughing at because they wouldn’t be this hysterical if they weren’t facing the end of their horrible ways.

I don’t like this Fred guy. No, really. I don’t.

Thanks for the eye-opener, though. Now if I can just get past this homicidal rage…
